New details have surfaced regarding Kyle Chrisley's latest arrest in Tennessee, which took place on Saturday, December 20, in Rutherford County. According to a statement from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, obtained by PEOPLE, the 34-year-old Chrisley Knows Best alum is alleged to have become violent with police before their arrest. Specifically, Kyle reportedly punched and injured three officers while attempting to speak with them.
"When attempting to speak with Mr. Chrisley, he became immediately aggressive, charged at deputies, and began to throw punches and assault them," Sgt. Brady Greene of the RCSO reported. "After a physical altercation and deployment of OC Spray, Mr. Chrisley was taken into custody."
Kyle's wife, Ashleigh, made the initial call stating that he was being "belligerent," according to the sheriff's office. Authorities further claim that Kyle appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and allegedly admitted to drinking approximately 64 ounces of beer that night.
Online court records show that Kyle is facing 10 charges, including domestic assault, assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and retaliation for past actions. He has a hearing set for January 27, 2026, and was released on a $88,500 bond.
Kyle's recent run-in with the law comes just months after he and Ashleigh sued Rutherford County and two sheriff's deputies in August regarding his September 2024 arrest on aggravated assault charges. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE at the time, the couple's attorneys claimed that Kyle was unfairly arrested and "punished for calling for help."
The lawsuit alleged that on September 9, 2024, "a disgruntled mechanic, angry over a payment dispute, showed up uninvited, kicked at their doors, threatened violence, and used his car as a weapon by ramming their SUV and nearly running Kyle over in front of multiple neighbors." Deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office "didn't arrest the man who caused the chaos," per the docs. "Instead, they arrested Kyle Chrisley, and ignored clear evidence that he was the victim, not the aggressor."
The filing further stated that Kyle and Ashleigh brought "this lawsuit because no family should face criminal charges or threats of arrest for defending themselves at home or for exercising their constitutional rights. This is a case about false arrest, excessive force, and retaliation for trying to hold police officers accountable."
Claiming that Kyle suffered humiliation and damage to his public reputation, pain and suffering, mental suffering and emotional distress, and economic losses due to the arrest, attorneys requested a jury trial and $1.7 million in damages, in addition to legal fees.
Additionally, in March 2023, Kyle was also arrested for felony aggravated assault following a physical altercation with a supervisor while working at a truck rental company in Smyrna, Tenn. His estranged father Todd and stepmom Julie have also been dealing with their own legal drama. Earlier this year, the couple was pardoned by President Donald Trump after being indicted on 12 counts of bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy. They were later convicted and sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison in November 2022.
