The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) unveiled compelling footage stemming from a shooting incident that entangled Weezer bassist Scott Shriner's spouse, Jillian Lauren, encompassing body camera recordings, surveillance videos, and audio transcripts of the 911 emergency dispatch from April 8. Prior to the shooting, LAPD officers were dispatched to the Eagle Rock neighborhood in response to a hit-and-run incident involving three suspects.
In the footage released on Friday, officers are visibly peering over a backyard fence and urgently instructing Lauren, identified by the authorities as Jillian Shriner, to surrender her weapon. A voice rings out, "Ma'am, we're here to assist you. Please lower the gun. You're in danger of being shot. It's the police." Another voice interjects, "Oh, she's racked it," shortly before the sound of gunshots echoes through the air.
Following the shooting, Lauren was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries deemed non-life-threatening. While there, she was charged with attempted murder and subsequently released on a million-dollar bond the following day. Her manager assured The Hollywood Reporter that she was "alive and well." Lauren is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
A separate surveillance video captures the acclaimed author wandering outside her residence with a pistol gripped in her right hand. Additional footage shows her pacing around the exterior of her home prior to the shooting, followed by a separate clip depicting Lauren lying face-down on the road, handcuffed. Notably, she was not implicated in the hit-and-run incident, although police confirmed the apprehension of one of the suspects involved in the crime.
Lauren's best-selling memoir, "Some Girls: My Life in a Harem," chronicles her unique experiences as part of the Prince of Brunei's harem. She is also the author of the 2020 novel, "Behold the Monster: Confronting America's Most Prolific Serial Killer," which delves into her relationship with serial killer Samuel Little. A year later, she featured in a Starz docuseries centered around Little's life and crimes.
