Leonardo DiCaprio has recently opened up about the inspiration behind his character in *One Battle After Another*. The Hollywood icon described his role as a "dude who just sits at home and smokes pot all day" during an interview with *Variety* at the film's premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on September 8.

"I drew a lot of inspiration," the *Titanic* star revealed, "from Jeff Bridges’ iconic portrayal of The Dude in 1998’s *The Big Lebowski*."

DiCaprio shared that embodying the "stoned, laid-back demeanor of Bob" added a unique ease to the role, particularly when tackling the film’s numerous stunts—or as he called them, "a string of spectacular mishaps."

"We pulled off some truly insane stunts in this movie," remarked the 50-year-old actor.

However, the *Shutter Island* star was quick to clarify how his character, Paul, differs from others. "Paul’s motives are entirely distinct," he explained. "He thrives on watching others fail."

Interestingly, DiCaprio also confessed to adopting method acting techniques for the role, admitting he "smoked up" to fully inhabit the part.

Elsewhere in the interview, DiCaprio reflected on his experience collaborating with acclaimed American filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson. "I always get butterflies on the first day of shooting—really," the Oscar winner admitted. "But by lunchtime, I’m locked in. You’re on camera; there’s no time for nerves."

Expressing his enthusiasm for working with Anderson, DiCaprio added, "I would’ve signed on for any project Paul proposed. He’s such a distinctive, fascinating filmmaker—truly one of a kind."

"But I’m especially thrilled I got to be part of *this* one," he concluded.

Meanwhile, *One Battle After Another* is set to hit theaters on September 26.
