There exists no ill will between Lewis Capaldi and Taylor Swift. During their shared appearance on The Graham Norton Show in October, rumors started to swirl around them. Taylor was there to promote her Life of a Showgirl album, while Lewis was set to perform his single "Something in the Heavens." However, when host Graham Norton asked Lewis about his new EP, the musician responded that he "was told I wasn't allowed to talk about" it, leading some viewers to falsely blame Taylor, assuming that he couldn't promote his Survive EP because the show's focus was on Taylor's album.

However, Lewis quickly cleared the air and shared that the rumor was nothing but "hogwash." Instead, his EP had not yet been officially announced, and he had been instructed by his record label to keep it under wraps. "I saw a TikTok about that. And it's a woman being like, 'Taylor did this, and she's evil,' and this and that. And I'm going like, 'That's completely made up,'" he said on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show on December 11th. "Basically, my EP hadn't been announced yet."
Graham, who had known about the project as he was the one who posed the question, understood that fans had already heard whispers about his new music—he just wasn't officially meant to speak on it just yet. "So, I was told by my label, 'Don't tell people before you go on.' Not like a 'You can't tell people,' it was more like 'It's not been announced yet, so don't tell people,'" he explained. "And then we went on Graham Norton, and Graham said, 'You've got this new EP coming out.' And I was like, 'Oh, I thought I wasn't meant to mention it.'"
Ultimately, the "Someone You Loved" singer dismissed the claim that Taylor had been the source of any negativity as "complete f--king bulls--t." In fact, Taylor was nothing but supportive during their shared appearance. At one point on the episode, just before Lewis hesitated to speak about the EP, the "Karma" singer even shared her admiration for his performance. "The song is beautiful," she told Lewis in front of the audience. "Like an angel."
