Liam Neeson, having famously declared an end to his romantic endeavors, surprisingly embarked on a romance with Pamela Anderson. Prior to their blossoming relationship, last October—nine months before their dating status was confirmed by insiders as being in its nascent stages—the Oscar-nominated actor opened up to PEOPLE about hitting the brakes on his love life in an exclusive cover story.
When questioned about his dating status, Neeson responded succinctly, "No, in a word. I'm past all that." The 73-year-old was previously married to Natasha Richardson, his costar in The Parent Trap, from 1994 until her untimely death in 2009 at the age of 45. Over a year after losing Richardson, Neeson found companionship with Freya St. Johnston, a UK-based public relations executive. Their relationship, however, lasted only two years.
Now, Neeson and Anderson, 58, are said to be "enjoying each other's company," according to a source associated with their latest film project. "It's sincere, and it's evident that they're utterly smitten with each other," the source revealed. This much was apparent during their global press tour. During an appearance on the Today show on July 29, Neeson and Anderson playfully pretended to be caught kissing as the camera panned towards them. A week prior, she affectionately kissed him on the cheek at the London premiere of their film.
Before tying the knot with Richardson, Neeson had romantic relationships with Barbra Streisand, Brooke Shields, and Helen Mirren. In his 2024 PEOPLE cover story, he gushed about Anderson, stating, "With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her. She's just terrific to work with." He continued, praising her endlessly, "She has no huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and incredibly easy to work with. She's going to shine in the film."
Anderson reciprocated the sentiments, calling Neeson "the perfect gentleman." She added, "He brings out the best in you… with respect, kindness, and a wealth of experience. It was an absolute honor to work with him."
While the exact timing of Anderson and Neeson's romantic involvement remains unclear, the former Baywatch star—who garnered widespread acclaim for her performance in The Last Showgirl earlier this year—suggested to Entertainment Weekly that their relationship remained platonic during filming (set for theatrical release in August). "We had many dinners out with the cast. I invited him and his assistant over for romantic dinners with me and my assistant, ensuring our relationship stayed 'professionally romantic' throughout production," she revealed.
At the July 28 New York premiere of The Naked Gun, Anderson and Neeson posed together alongside their children—she shares Brandon, 29, and Dylan, 27, with ex-husband Tommy Lee, while Neeson is a father to Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28, with Richardson.
