Lil Wayne's die-hard fans are eagerly anticipating his swift return to the stage. The iconic rapper behind the hit "A Milli" was unfortunately compelled to reschedule his recent Toronto performance, which was part of his highly anticipated Tha Carter VI tour, mere hours before he was slated to captivate the audience at Budweiser Stage.
In a statement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on August 11, the very night the concert was supposed to take place, the venue conveyed, "Due to an unforeseen bout of illness, Wayne's Toronto show tonight has been postponed." The venue further elaborated, "As his loyal fans are well aware, he holds nothing but the utmost passion for delivering nothing short of spectacular performances for his adoring supporters, and he was incredibly thrilled about this particular gig."
Budweiser Stage followed up with a tweet, reassuring fans, "Please keep an eye out for the new date, which will be announced soon. Rest assured, all tickets previously purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled event." E! News reached out to Lil Wayne's representative for additional comments but has yet to receive a response.
Lil Wayne's "Lollipop"-infused tour embarked on its journey with an opening show in New York City in June, gathering momentum with a stop in Virginia Beach on August 1. Between then and the postponement of his Toronto concert, he had successfully delivered six mesmerizing performances, with his next scheduled appearance lined up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on August 14.
This concert cancellation comes on the heels of his personal life being thrust into the public eye just a few months ago. In May, his ex-girlfriend Denise Bidot claimed that the rapper abruptly ended their relationship and evicted her and their daughter from their shared home.
"Wayne quite literally kicked me and my daughter out on Mother's Day," she shared on Instagram. "I'm still recovering from surgery and can barely lift boxes, yet he had his assistants assist in evicting us today." She added, "Breaking up with someone on Mother's Day is devilishly cruel. But prayers up; God always sees me through. I walk by faith."
Lil Wayne, who is a father to Reginae, 26, with ex-partner Toya Johnson; Dwayne III, 16, with ex-partner Sarah Vivan; Kameron, 15, with ex-partner Lauren London; and Neal, 15, with ex-partner Nivea, made his social media debut with Denise in June 2020, roughly a month after calling it quits with his ex-fiancée La’Tecia Thomas.
