Peacock's gripping crime drama *Superfakes* has finally cast its leading star. Lucy Liu is set to headline the series, which hails from creator Alice Ju (known for *Beef*), in collaboration with Universal Studio Group’s UCP and acclaimed production company A24. Josh and Benny Safdie, the visionary filmmakers behind critically praised projects, join as executive producers, while Liu herself will also take on an executive producing role.

According to the show's captivating logline, Liu will portray a "small-time Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer" who finds herself ensnared in a sprawling black market conspiracy, all in a desperate bid to secure a brighter future for her family. Peacock officially greenlit the series back in January, marking another exciting addition to its slate. Ju, who already boasts a proven track record with the NBCUniversal-owned streamer—having previously worked as a writer and producer on *Poker Face*—also shares a creative bond with A24, the studio behind *Beef* for Netflix.

Taking the helm as showrunner, Ju will executive produce *Superfakes* alongside Josh Safdie, Benny Safdie, Liu, Howard Klein, and Olivia Gerke of 3 Arts Entertainment, as well as Ronald Bronstein and Eli Bush.

A two-time Emmy nominee, Liu is currently immersed in filming *The Devil Wears Prada 2*. Beyond that, she stars in and produced the upcoming feature film *Rosemead*, while her recent credits span a diverse array of projects, including the Prime Video holiday movie *Red One*, Netflix’s miniseries *A Man in Full*, and voice acting work on Netflix’s animated series *Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld*. She is represented by CAA, Framework Entertainment, and Schreck Rose.
