"We've got but one chance to nail this guy, so make it count, Detective!" Amazon's Prime Video has unveiled the official, full-length trailer for the highly anticipated detective series, 'Ballard,' set amidst the neon glow of Los Angeles, premiering this July. Marking a pivotal shift, this series becomes the inaugural entry in Amazon MGM Studios' 'Bosch' franchise, inspired by the bestselling novels of Michael Connelly, that veers away from the helm of Titus Welliver. Starring the enigmatic Maggie Q, 'Ballard' introduces us to Renee Ballard, a LAPD detective (also featured in Connelly's novels), who presides over a newly established, underfunded, volunteer-only cold case division within the L.A. Police Department, diving headfirst into treacherous waters as she unearths long-buried secrets.

The stellar ensemble cast includes Q, alongside John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Victoria Moroles, Courtney Taylor, Hector Hugo, Noah Bean, and Michael Cassidy. A delightful surprise awaits fans as Welliver reprises his role as Harry Bosch, linking this tale to the preceding series. While it bears a striking resemblance to Netflix's 'Dept Q' series in many respects, 'Ballard's' Los Angeles setting and Prime Video origin set it apart. Could this be the next big thing? Absolutely, especially with such a powerhouse lineup.

'Ballard' chronicles the relentless pursuit of Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who shoulders the responsibility of leading the LAPD's nascent cold-case unit—a underfunded, all-volunteer squad grappling with the heaviest caseload in the city. With empathy and unwavering determination, Ballard tackles these time-capsuled mysteries. As she unravels a conspiracy during her probes, she leans on her retired ally, Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), to steer through the perilous waters that jeopardize both her unit and her life.

Created and penned by Kendall Sherwood, who has previously lent her talents to 'Major Crimes,' 'The Code,' 'Hawaii Five-0,' and 'Your Honor,' 'Ballard' is helmed by showrunners Michael Alaimo and Sherwood. Drawing inspiration from Michael Connelly's acclaimed 'Harry Bosch' book series, the series boasts episodes directed by Jet Wilkinson, Sarah Boyd, Tori Garrett, and Jon Huertas. Executive producers include Jet Wilkinson, Michael Alaimo, Melissa Aouate, Henrik Bastin, Michael Connelly, Kendall Sherwood, and Trish Hofmann.
