Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have decided to embark on separate journeys, marking the end of their nearly two-decade-long partnership. The Oscar-adorned actress and the French actor-director, whose on-screen chemistry captivated audiences in the 2003 film "Love Me If You Dare," have parted ways, according to their representatives.

In a heartfelt statement translated for the French publication Agence France-Presse, the duo revealed, "After sharing 18 cherished years together, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have mutually agreed to part ways. This decision stems from a place of mutual understanding and goodwill."

Sharing the responsibilities of parenthood to their beloved children, Marcel, 13, and Louise, 8, they further elaborated, "As the parents of these two wonderful children, we have chosen to make this announcement now to preempt any unnecessary speculation, rumors, or misleading interpretations." They also implored the public to grant them privacy during this transformative period.

"By offering transparency through this press release, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet express their earnest wish for their private lives, particularly those of their children, to be respected," the statement continued.

While this rare glimpse into their personal lives may come as a surprise, it is not the first occasion where the "Inception" actress has spoken out about her relationship. Amid swirling rumors in 2016 that she was involved in an extramarital affair with her "Allied" co-star Brad Pitt, Marion decisively quashed the online speculation by championing her love and announcing her pregnancy with her and Guillaume's second child.

"I am unaccustomed to commenting on such matters or taking them seriously," she posted on Instagram at the time. "However, as this situation is escalating and affecting those I cherish, I must speak out."

"Firstly, many moons ago, I met the love of my life, the father of our son, and the soon-to-be father of our second child," Marion continued. "He is my heart, my closest confidant, the only one I need."

Addressing her critics head-on, she concluded, "Secondly, to those who claim I am devastated, I am quite well, thank you. This concocted conversation does not trouble me."
