Mark Sanchez's ex-partner has broken her silence following his recent arrest, stating that "none of this comes as a surprise" to her. Model Bobby T, whose real name is Erin Campaneris and who shares an 8-year-old son, Daniel, with the former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst, shared her thoughts in a poignant statement.
"I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son's father, Mark Sanchez," Bobby began in a message posted on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, Oct. 12. "My top priority has always been, and continues to be, our eight-year-old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly in order to shield Daniel from any fallout."
She continued, expressing her lack of shock at the news of the recent allegations against her ex. "Now that everything has come to light, my focus remains unchanged. I have always been worried about [Daniel’s] safety and what he is exposed to. Tragically, none of this is surprising to me," she wrote.
Bobby went on to describe the harrowing moment she learned of the incident. "Like everyone else, I found out about the horrific event through a news alert on my phone while sitting right next to Daniel. Even now, I only know what has been made publicly available. My thoughts and empathy go out to the victim and everyone affected by this devastating event. Its repercussions have been far-reaching, touching many lives."
"I understand that we live in a highly publicized world, but my hope is that as my son grows, he can be seen and understood independently of this narrative. At the end of the day, I'm just a mother to a very sweet young boy, doing everything in my power to safeguard his peace. Thank you for the compassion so many have shown toward Daniel and me," she concluded.
The former NFL quarterback, 38, was released from the hospital and taken into custody on Sunday morning, following a stabbing incident in Indianapolis on Oct. 4.
Sanchez had been in Indianapolis to provide commentary for a Colts game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 5. The night prior, he allegedly became involved in a confrontation with 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole in a downtown alley, resulting in both men being hospitalized with severe injuries. "Detectives believe this was an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence," the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) stated at the time.
Sanchez faces one felony charge (battery resulting in serious bodily injury) and three misdemeanor charges (battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication endangering the life of another). Indianapolis news outlet Fox 59 reported that Sanchez was booked into the Marion County Jail.
