Melissa McCarthy's new hairdo has undoubtedly been the talk of the party. The 'Tammy' star has ditched her signature shoulder-length locks in favor of a shaggy mullet, going undercover to surprise her pal Mariska Hargitay on the set of 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.'
Melissa, who graced the April 23 episode of the NBC series with her '80s-inspired hairstyle, posed for a selfie alongside Mariska, who pointed to her with an amused expression. While her new 'do may not be permanent, SVU fans certainly got a close-up glimpse during her guest appearance as a pro fighter named Jasmyn Jewell in the show, according to Variety.
"SURPRISE!!!!" Mariska captioned the April 24 Instagram post. "#MELISKA mind blown and still doing the happy dance!"
But the 'Gilmore Girls' alum's transformation didn't stop there. After all, she kept her guest appearance on the series under wraps as she arrived on set incognito wearing a full granny disguise. In an Instagram video shared on April 24, Melissa, 55, can be seen wearing the mask of an elderly woman complete with a gray curly wig while on her way to the show's filming location.
"It's 6 a.m. We are on our way to SVU to surprise Mariska," Melissa said in the video. "She does not know we're coming and doing a little part in it today. Everyone has been sneaking around behind boss lady's back, lovingly."
"I didn't want her to see me coming in and ruining the surprise," she added. "I can't wait to see if it works."
Later in the video, Melissa revealed the moment she pulled off her epic surprise.
"Holy mother of Christ," Mariska, 62, said after Melissa walked into a room to greet her. "Are you f--king kidding me?"
The pair can then be seen sharing a few quick hugs, as Melissa admitted that Mariska was "very hard to trick."
"Mariska, you are the real deal," Melissa added in the caption. "Sorry everyone lied to you, hope it was worth it (this surprise was six years in the making people)!!!"
The 'Mike & Molly' alum added, "PS LOOK MA I FINALLY MADE IT ON LAW & ORDER!!!!!"
