Miley Cyrus Malibu home is new now after wildfire disaster

After nearly seven years, Miley Cyrus is finally on the cusp of returning to her cherished Malibu residence, which was reduced to ashes in the catastrophic 2018 Woolsey Fire. In a recent, revealing conversation with Pamela Anderson for CR Fashion Book, the 32-year-old pop sensation disclosed that the home she once shared with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, is nearing completion.

"I've been dedicating myself to a rebuild," Cyrus revealed in the interview, published on September 22. "The Woolsey Fire claimed my house, and I've been immersed in rebuilding it for the past five years. It looks like it’ll be fully ready for me to move back in within the next few weeks."

At the time of the inferno, Cyrus was miles away in South Africa, filming an episode of Black Mirror. The raging flames engulfed her Malibu haven just a month prior to her and Hemsworth's wedding. Although their marriage ultimately dissolved in August 2019, the loss of the house left an indelible mark on her heart.

In an August 2023 TikTok post, Cyrus reminisced about the profound memories tied to the property. "That house held so much magic," she mused. She recounted how she crafted her first post–Hannah Montana album within those walls, emphasizing, "The Meet Miley Cyrus record was truly the genesis of my solo songwriting career."

She recalled the surreal feeling of returning to the same Malibu house, which had transitioned from a recording studio to her personal sanctuary, only to witness its eventual destruction by fire. Despite the overwhelming devastation, Cyrus has frequently spoken of the renewal and growth she experienced in the aftermath.

During a screening of her visual album, Something Beautiful, earlier this year, Cyrus confessed, "When my house burned down, it turned out to be the greatest blessing of my life. Losing everything allowed me to rebuild with intention, to carefully select each piece I'd collect, and to reassess the people in my life."

She further elaborated on how the fire brought clarity to her relationships. "When my house burned down, so did many of my relationships. But that, too, led me to extraordinary magic and fostered immense gratitude," she reflected.

The aftermath even reshaped her artistic expression. In a 2020 conversation with Joe Rogan, Cyrus revealed that her voice underwent a transformation following the fire. "I could sing better after the fire. It was as if something was unleashed within me," she shared, noting how the experience granted her a fresh perspective on life and her music.

Now, with her rebuilt home almost complete, Cyrus stands poised to embark on a new chapter—one forged by resilience, shaped by loss, and defined by the freedom to start anew.
