Mindy Kaling is expanding her impressive television repertoire with yet another captivating series. Hulu has officially greenlit "Not Suitable for Work," a hilarious comedy delving into the lives of ambitious young professionals navigating the bustling streets of New York City. This project embarked on its journey at the Disney-owned streaming platform in April 2024, initially titled "Murray Hill," with a promise to transform a script into a full series.
Conceived by the talented Kaling, "Not Suitable for Work" promises to chronicle the tales of five workaholic twenty-somethings who are relentlessly pursuing professional success while also hoping to squeeze in a bit of personal happiness amidst the glitz and glamour of Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood. The casting announcements for this highly anticipated show are still under wraps.
The announcement of "Not Suitable for Work" arrives just days before the premiere of another Kaling-helmed series, "Running Point," on Netflix. Meanwhile, fans eagerly await news on the fate of her series "The Sex Lives of College Girls," which currently airs on HBO Max, and whether it will return for a fourth season.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling holds an overall deal, "Not Suitable for Work" is a labor of love penned and executive produced by Kaling alongside her long-time collaborator Charlie Grandy ("The Mindy Project," "The Sex Lives of College Girls"), who will also serve as the showrunner. Howard Klein of 3 Arts Entertainment joins them as an executive producer. Grandy, too, boasts an overall deal at WBTV.
Upon its debut, "Not Suitable for Work" will join a stellar lineup of comedies on Hulu, which already boasts hits like "Only Murders in the Building," "Futurama," and the upcoming "Deli Boys," "Chad Powers," "Mid-Century Modern," as well as a revival of the beloved "King of the Hill."
