Miranda Hope is fiercely defending MomTok and herself in the aftermath of the recently released video showcasing the 2023 physical altercation between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen, which led to Taylor pleading guilty to aggravated assault. In response to a user's speculation that it was a fellow MomTok member who leaked the recording to TMZ, Miranda wrote in the comment section of the Instagram video, "haha, the first time I saw that video was the same day you all did. None of us girls have ever been in possession of it or any other evidence."

Miranda also addressed the user's allegation that she, specifically, might have leaked the video, given her history of interpersonal issues with Taylor over the years—particularly over Miranda's ex-husband Chase McWhort's alleged involvement with Shinia Powell—and because she was among the first members of the cast to speak out after the video's release. "My intent with my statement was not to shade Taylor," Miranda continued. "I simply wanted to address that I do not support nor condone that behavior from either party. Taylor and I have been in a good place, and she has apologized for both the Shinia and Chase stuff. I have my theories on who leaked the video, but I can promise you it wasn't any of the women."

While the majority of the Mormon Wives cast has yet to address the video of Taylor and Dakota, Miranda and Layla Taylor both weighed in on the day after the footage was made public. Miranda expressed her dismay, saying she had been "at a loss for words." "Everything has been really tough to see," she continued in her March 20 Instagram Story. "Domestic violence and abuse of any kind is something I take very seriously. As a human, and especially as a mother, I cannot support that kind of behavior."

Layla, meanwhile, wrote on Instagram, "My personal history as a survivor makes it impossible for me to stay silent. I stand firmly against domestic violence in any form. I keep her children in my thoughts, hoping for their safety above all else."

Meanwhile, filming on season five of Mormon Wives has been paused amid a police investigation into an alleged second incident between Dakota and Taylor which occurred in February. As for the filming pause, cast member Mikayla Matthews told a fan during a March 19 Q&A, "It was a decision that all of us girls came up with and agreed on. We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening."
