Netflix and author Harlan Coben are reigniting their professional partnership. The streaming giant has given the green light to a limited series adapted from Coben's gripping novel, "I Will Find You." This dramatic venture marks the latest fruit of a comprehensive deal Netflix inked with the best-selling author in 2018 and stands as the pioneer U.S.-based series crafted from one of Coben's literary gems. Robert Hull, whose credits include "God Friended Me" and "Quantum Leap," is co-creating the series alongside Coben and will take the reins as showrunner.
"Harlan's narratives, filled with breathtaking twists, dramatic cliffhangers, and compelling mysteries, have garnered a global fanbase and consistently held their audiences in thrall," said Peter Friedlander, Netflix's Vice President of Scripted Series for the U.S. and Canada, in a statement. "There is no one quite like Harlan, and his maiden U.S. scripted series for Netflix will undoubtedly be no exception. We are confident that he and Robby will deliver the same heart-pounding experience that viewers have come to anticipate, making it a must-watch event."
Hull echoed this enthusiasm, stating, "I have been a devoted fan of Harlan's novels for as long as I can recall. The opportunity to breathe life into this story alongside Harlan, Jinny, Peter, and the exceptional team at Netflix has been a lifelong dream realized."
"I Will Find You" will span eight tension-filled episodes, revolving around an innocent father who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his son. He receives evidence suggesting that his child might still be alive and must escape from prison to uncover the truth, according to the show's synopsis.
Netflix has already adapted numerous novels by the prolific Coben, including this year's breakout hit "Fool Me Once" and the upcoming "Missing You," premiering on January 1, across four different languages. For each adaptation, Coben collaborates with local writers. Other Coben titles on Netflix include "Stay Close" and "The Stranger" (produced in the U.K.), "The Innocent" (Spain), "Gone for Good" (France), "Hold Tight," and "The Woods" (Poland). Projects based on "Caught" and "Run Away" are also in development.
Hull and Coben, through his Final Twist Productions, will executive produce "I Will Find You" alongside Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien, and John Weber.
