Robert's brother, actor Keith Carradine, added that his family wanted the public to know about the struggles his younger brother faced, saying there was "no shame" in having bipolar disorder. "It was an illness that got the best of him," the 76-year-old told the outlet. "I want to celebrate him for his struggle with it and his beautiful soul. He was profoundly gifted, and we will miss him every day. We will take comfort in how funny he could be, how wise and utterly accepting and tolerant he was. That’s who my baby brother was."

Following his death, Robert was fondly remembered by his former girlfriend, Jamie Lee Curtis. "I met him live on television on the Dinah Shore Show," she wrote on Instagram on February 24th. "When they had a bunch of second-generation actors, we would call them now 'Nepo babies.'" As the 67-year-old recalled, "Bobby and I came on last, and Bobby rearranged where we were all sitting so that he could sit next to me and he kissed me, live on television."

After their "very public meet cute," Jamie and Robert's relationship blossomed, especially after she met Ever. "We became a little family," the Freaky Friday alum added. "And it was my first experience with domesticity, motherhood, and partnership." Jamie shared that she and Robert remained friends after their split, writing, "Rest in speed and humor and love, Bobby."
