Tig Notaro, a renowned comedian, hosted the "Tig and Cheryl: True Story" podcast alongside Cheryl Hines for three years, starting in 2020. However, in May 2023, just as Hines' controversial husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., announced his presidential campaign, Notaro decided to step away from the podcast. This timing was not a mere coincidence.

In a recent interview with Nicole Wallace on MS NOW's "The Best People" podcast (via The Daily Beast), Notaro discussed the end of her friendship with Hines. She explained that her friendship with Hines predated her husband's involvement, and there were certain thoughts and feelings of his that she didn't agree with. However, he didn't have the platform he gained during the pandemic. Notaro felt that continuing the podcast was ridiculous and stupid, especially as he was gaining momentum and speaking.

"Tig and Cheryl: True Story" centered on the two hosts discussing a documentary each week, with their conversation often going off the rails due to humorous asides and stories. After Notaro's departure, Hines wanted to continue the podcast, and she approved the hiring of comedian Rachel Harris as the replacement host.

Notaro shared that people would interrupt her stand-up shows and yell, "Bobby is crazy!" This made her realize that she didn't want to be a part of this world. Despite her love for Hines, she had to step away from the podcast. She reached out to Hines with love and support, not knowing what was going on behind closed doors. However, things shifted severely, and one day she realized that Hines no longer reached out to her.

"It was a bummer," Notaro said, adding that some interviews claimed she dumped her and left her in the dust because of Bobby. But she was trying to be a friend to her even though she didn't feel like she could continue with the podcast. "I think I've moved past the confusion and sadness," she concluded.

Hines' marriage to RFK Jr. has reportedly soured several of her Hollywood relationships due to RFK's ties to Trump and the president's MAGA followers. RFK Jr. is currently serving as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services under Trump. For instance, Hines has said that she no longer speaks to her "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator and co-star Larry David.
