Nicki Minaj couldn't replicate the viral stiletto challenge in her high school days, quite literally. The rapper revealed her attempt at the trendy high-heel balancing act, inspired by her 2013 single "High School," in a captivating Instagram post dated August 5th. While posing uniquely in her black minidress, she found herself struggling to keep it classy without revealing too much skin. Captioning her post, she playfully wrote, "Dear Barbz, about that pose... Ummm," accompanied by clips of her clinging to a fence, wall, and pole by the poolside, all in an effort to nail the challenge.
"This Chanel dress turned out to be a wee bit shorter than anticipated, and the thong underneath certainly didn't aid my cause. I didn't want to make it too explicit for you all," she explained, adding with a touch of humor, "Both feet firmly on the ground, though. All ten toes accounted for."
Furthermore, the 42-year-old assured her fans that this wouldn't be her final attempt. "I'll don a different outfit that won't expose so much skin," she vowed, embellishing her message with an array of emojis, "& and give it another go for you later."
Her fans flocked to the comments section, applauding Nicki for her honesty and relatability online. One fan commented, "If the Queen herself is grappling with this pose, what chance do I have? Love always, Nicki. A Barbz till the end." Another enthusiastically added, "Omg, this is exactly what I've been waiting for!"
Nicki isn't the only celebrity to take on this daring challenge. Jenna Bush Hager, too, gave it a shot on a stack of books during the July 24th episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, successfully balancing on her second try, much to Willie Geist's amazement. Though Jenna made it seem effortless, the challenge harbors its own set of risks.
Indeed, Russian influencer Mariana Barutkina faced a dire consequence after attempting the trend. Sharing a video of herself toppling off her kitchen counter on August 1st, she wrote, "I decided to start blogging, and here I am, leaving the doctor's with a diagnosis of Th9 compression bending uncomplicated fracture of the spine." Despite her ordeal, she reassured her followers, "I'm doing great."
