Less than two weeks after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, marking the end of 19 years of marriage, the 58-year-old AMC Theaters brand ambassador delved into why her favorite aspect of aging has been mastering the art of navigating life's unpredictable twists and turns. "The best part is the tapestry of experiences you've woven over time," Nicole shared with Harper’s Bazaar in an interview published on October 9. "You think to yourself, ‘Oh, I’ve traversed this path before. I genuinely know how to manage this now.’ Or, ‘Perhaps I haven’t encountered this exact scenario, but I've weathered storms akin to this, and I'm certain I'll emerge on the other side.’"
The Practical Magic star further elaborated, "There's a profound solace in knowing that no matter how excruciating, arduous, or devastating a situation may be, there exists a pathway through it." While Nicole feels fortified to persevere through any ordeal, she acknowledges that pain is an intrinsic part of the growth journey. "You're going to have to confront it head-on," she continued. "You can't anesthetize the hurt. You'll have to endure it, and at times, it'll feel insurmountable. You might feel shattered, but if you proceed with gentleness and patience—even if it requires an immense amount of time—the pain will eventually subside."
Yet, amidst life's trials that have fortified Nicole, her driving force lies in being a mother to her daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Keith, as well as her children Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise. "My children imbue me with a sense of purpose as their guardian and guide," explained the Big Little Lies luminary. "I vow to them that I'm here, and that, no matter what transpires, they'll always have a secure haven to flourish in."

Although Nicole has not directly addressed her split from Keith, E! News uncovered that she initially endeavored to salvage their marriage before ultimately deciding to file for divorce. Nevertheless, the estranged pair have since found common ground. According to the divorce filing, obtained by E! News, the Oscar winner and country music sensation have agreed on a co-parenting arrangement. It stipulates that their daughters will reside primarily with Nicole for 306 days of the year, designating her as the "primary residential parent," while they will spend 59 days with their father.
