Nina Dobrev is breaking free from the shackles of her past. Just two months after her sudden breakup with Shaun White, the Vampire Diaries alum shared a TikTok video set to Ariana Grande's 2014 smash hit "Break Free" that seemed to allude to the couple's five-year broken engagement. As she lip-synced, "If you want it, take it / I should have said it before," the 36-year-old showed off her empty ring finger, mouthing, "Tried to hide it, fake it / I can't pretend anymore."
The fiery lyrics were complemented by Nina's scowl and a middle finger flip at the camera. But this wasn't the first time the actress's social media activity had fans batting their eyes in the wake of her split from Shaun. Shortly before news of their separation surfaced, she shared another TikTok video in which she lip-synced to a sassy track about other women trying to "fix" a man.
"How do you sleep at night knowing people don't like you?" Nina mouthed to the audio. "With no underwear, in case they wanna kiss my ass." She continued, "What's your advice for women trying to fix their man? Listen, Bob the Builder, he's got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew."
Two days after posting that video, Nina stepped out at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Eternity without the 5-carat diamond engagement ring from the Olympic snowboarder. And while neither have publicly addressed their breakup, Nina did clear the air about recent romance rumors involving herself and Zac Efron.
After she and the High School Musical alum were spotted vacationing with friends Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Teller, Nina denied speculation that it was a double date and shook her head when asked if they were an item. Additionally, when questioned if she and Zac were just friends, Nina told TMZ in October, "Yeah." She added, "I'm excited for the future, and the only thing that’s guaranteed is change."
