Tom Dumont is candidly sharing his recent health diagnosis with the world. In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram on Saturday, April 11th, the No Doubt guitarist, now 58, revealed that after experiencing symptoms "a number of years ago," he has been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease.
"I went to my doctor, I saw a neurologist, and I underwent a series of tests," he said. "It's been a daily struggle. Every day is a challenge."
According to the Mayo Clinic, Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder of the nervous system that progressively worsens over time. Symptoms may include tremors, stiffness, slowing of movement, and trouble with balance, which increases the risk of falls.

Despite these challenges, Dumont remains optimistic. "The good news is, I can still play music," he said, ahead of No Doubt's upcoming 18-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. "I can still play guitar. I've been doing really well."
As the musician shifts his focus to preparing for the band's upcoming shows, which will run from May 6th to June 13th and make Gwen Stefani the first female headliner since the venue opened in 2023, he's found joy in the process.
"It's been very fun," Dumont said. "Looking through old footage and photographs, relearning old songs, rehearsing, and creating all the video content for the screens at the Sphere."
"It's made me think about how grateful I am for the life I've gotten to lead as a musician over the years," he added. "And it's all thanks to our families, friends, listeners, and everyone who's come out to shows over the years."
Beyond reflecting on the decades he's spent doing what he loves, Dumont said he was "inspired" to share his health journey online after seeing so many others do the same.
"I've been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media," he said. "I think it helps erase some of the stigma and raises awareness. And awareness is really important for prevention and research."
