The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has made the decision to refrain from filing charges against actress Kim Delaney and her spouse, James Morgan, subsequent to a domestic dispute that unfolded between them. On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the office informed Page Six, "Our office has declined to press charges against Kim Delaney and James Morgan due to an insufficiency of evidence." District Attorney Nathan Hochman further confirmed the absence of impending charges, adding, "Should any new evidence or witnesses surface during the ongoing investigation, this decision may be subject to reconsideration."
A representative for Delaney did not promptly respond to our request for comment regarding this determination.
This update follows three days after the former "NYPD Blue" star was apprehended on Saturday morning, following a report detailing a "heated altercation that escalated to physical confrontation" between her and Morgan.
Law enforcement officials later provided further insights into the alleged sequence of events between the couple. A source revealed to TMZ that Delaney and Morgan had been engaged in a dispute since Friday evening, prompting the "CSI: Miami" alumnus to file a domestic violence report with the police that same night.
Delaney is said to have contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department the following morning upon her husband’s return to their residence. However, Morgan alleged to police that shortly before their arrival, his wife had attempted to run him over with her vehicle, according to a source. He reportedly presented officers with a video as corroborating evidence.
Following a cursory investigation, Delaney was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, while Morgan was detained for misdemeanor battery.
Despite this violent episode, the married duo had portrayed a picture of conjugal bliss on social media earlier this month. On March 13, Delaney posted an intimate photo of herself and Morgan cuddling on Instagram, captioning it, "Pure love #lucky #grateful." She also penned alongside a photo of them from October 12, 2024, "A stunning second wedding anniversary!!! 10/11. And now, anniversary weekend! Wonderful memories! I love you, hubby—your wife for life."
Prior to her union with Morgan, Delaney was married to actor Joe Cortese from 1989 to 1994 and actor Charles Grant from 1984 to 1988. She has a history of battling alcohol abuse, including a 2002 arrest for drunk driving, a 2003 stint in rehab, and a 2005 custody dispute stemming from alcohol-related endangerment to her son.
