When Olivia Rodrigo feels low on inspiration, she reaches for a special record that serves as a musical companion during her introspective moments. During an appearance on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's podcast Music Makes Us, the host Kathleen Hannah, 57, inquired about an album that the "Guts" hitmaker turns to when "you need to reconnect with yourself."

"Honestly, I listen to Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill when I'm feeling like I don't know what to say or who I am," Rodrigo replied with a hint of nostalgia. "For some reason, every aspect of what makes a human being a human being feels encapsulated in that record."
The singer added that the album is a "beautiful intertwining" of anger, spite, jealousy, joy, and hope. "I f---ing love that album as much as anyone on the planet, but it reminds me what I'm trying to go after," she said.
What makes Morissette's 1995 record so special for Rodrigo is its authenticity. "It's her being herself and letting it all pour out," she explained. "As a writer, that's always the most inspiring thing when you just feel like someone needed to say something. They're not just writing a song to make it go big or make people like it."
To Rodrigo, the album feels like a "diary" in the best way possible, reflecting the singer-songwriter's vulnerability and honesty. On a personal note, Olivia Rodrigo is currently dating actor Louis Partridge.
