Orlando Bloom lent his humorous endorsement to a satirical post mocking rumors surrounding his ex-partner Katy Perry's purported romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Alert fans couldn't resist pointing out the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star's presence in the comments section of an Instagram post by the satirical news outlet "The Onion" on Friday.

The faux headline read, "Orlando Bloom Spotted At Dinner With Angela Merkel," playfully suggesting a meeting between the actor and another prominent global figure. The caption began, "Just weeks after announcing his split from fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel."

The mock report continued: "Angela kept Orlando laughing all night—he couldn't tear his eyes away from her!" an insider who caught sight of the pair sipping wine, indulging in oysters, and sharing a decadent slice of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant claimed.

Bloom, 48, who had officially confirmed his breakup with the "Firework" singer last month, expressed his appreciation for the humorous commentary by sharing a series of clapping hands emojis in the comments section.

This joke emerged amidst swirling reports that Perry, 40, and Trudeau, 53, had embarked on a romantic relationship. The rumors of a romance between Perry and Trudeau first gained traction this week when they were spotted dining together at a Montreal restaurant. They were also seen taking a romantic stroll with Perry's dog "Nugget" for about an hour, though they refrained from any public displays of affection.

On Wednesday, Trudeau was seen lending his support to Perry at her "Play" concert at Montreal's Bell Centre. On Saturday, a source told People that the pair had felt an "instant connection" and "had a lot in common."

"Music is just one of the many things they share," the insider revealed. "Both are idealists who still inhabit a world where they believe they can effect change, albeit an increasingly challenging one," the source added.
