Fox has unveiled the lead actor for its newly announced drama series, "Memory of a Killer," with Patrick Dempsey signing on for a starring role that promises to captivate audiences. In this thrilling tale, Dempsey will embody a hitman whose double life begins to unravel just as he is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. Rooted in a 2003 award-winning Belgian film, the series is poised to make waves.
This role marks Dempsey's triumphant return to network television, following his iconic decade-long stint on "Grey's Anatomy." Having recently wrapped up his role in Showtime's "Dexter: Original Sin" and starred in the Italian series "Devils," which aired on The CW in the United States from 2020 to 2022, Dempsey is poised to deliver yet another unforgettable performance.
Fox announced the greenlight for "Memory of a Killer" when it unveiled its 2025-26 schedule on Monday, slating the series for a midseason debut.
Dempsey will take on the character of Angelo Ledda, a man who leads a dual existence as a "fearsome NYC hitman and a seemingly unassuming photocopier salesman and father in the sleepy town of Cooperstown." According to the show's description, Angelo has expertly maintained a strict divide between his two worlds for years. However, all that is about to change as Alzheimer's disease looms as an insurmountable adversary. Haunted by the memory of his older brother's struggle with the condition, Angelo knows all too well the grim prognosis.
Renowned for his resourcefulness and talent, Angelo is about to face the ultimate test. Matters are further complicated when he suspects that his wife's recent death may not have been an accident. The stakes rise even higher when someone targets his pregnant daughter, breaching the wall between his dual lives. Desperate to protect his family, Angelo must delve into his past hits for clues, a list that stretches on endlessly. Now, he must track down his mortal enemy while continuing to carry out hits, all without revealing his diagnosis and still managing to make it home in time to cook dinner for his daughter.
