Apple has entrusted the limited series, "Wild Things," a captivating tale centered around the Las Vegas showbiz legends Siegfried & Roy, the mesmerizing magician-showmen, to Jude Law and Andrew Garfield for starring roles. This eight-episode masterpiece is grounded in the Apple Original podcast, "Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy," and is masterminded by John Hoffman, the co-creator of the acclaimed "Only Murders in the Building." Law will embody Siegfried, while Garfield will bring Roy to life. The production is slated to commence this autumn.
In reality, German magicians Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Uwe Horn soared to fame in Las Vegas, accompanied by their awe-inspiring white lions and tigers. However, their illustrious careers were abruptly halted by a harrowing tiger attack on stage in 2003.
According to a gripping synopsis from the producers, the series unfolds as a wild and woolly journey through the lives of two of history's most renowned showman-magicians. Alongside their white tigers, they endeavor to transform Sin City into a family-friendly haven. The duo pushes the boundaries between illusion and reality to their utmost limits, both personally and professionally, until a tragic event reshapes their world and unearths a mystery shrouding their final, fateful Las Vegas performance.
Horn sustained partial paralysis following the tiger attack and, after a fleeting comeback in 2010, the duo bid farewell to show business. Tragically, Horn passed away in 2020 at the age of 75.
The "Wild Things" venture from Apple Studios boasts executive production from Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment, with Matt Shakman helming the pilot episode and also serving as an executive producer. The impressive list of executive producers also includes Law, Garfield, Kristen Zolner, Natalie Berkus, Tony Leondis, Kathy Ciric, Will Malnati, and Steven Leckart.
Law is represented by CAA and Julian Belfrage Associates, while Garfield is managed by CAA and Gordon and French. Hoffman is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content, and Shakman by CAA.
