After the triumphant run of their festival, theatrical, and award-winning collaboration in "Hamnet," Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley will reunite for the heart-wrenching love story "Hold on to Your Angels," brought to life by Benh Zeitlin.

Zeitlin, the visionary behind "Beasts of the Southern Wild," will not only write but also direct this movie, which is set on the precipice of South Louisiana. Mescal embodies "a hell-bent outlaw," while Buckley portrays "a fierce guardian of lost souls." Their catastrophic love affair unfolds as their crumbling bayou paradise descends into chaos, as described in the film's synopsis.

"Hold on to Your Angels" is the most implausible love story I've ever witnessed — an outlaw romance for the end of America, set on the brink of South Louisiana's demise. I've been dreaming of telling this tale since its hero, Pam Harper, walked into an audition for "Beasts of the Southern Wild" seventeen years ago. It's a love letter to an endangered way of life — and a clarion call for empathy across a fractured planet," said Zeitlin, who last directed the Searchlight film "Wendy."

Plan B will produce "Hold on to Your Angels," alongside Oscar-winner Alex Coco (Anora, Red Rocket) under his Rapt Film banner. The project, which will commence filming in February, will be sold out of the Cannes market with CAA handling domestic and Veterans selling international rights.

Buckley won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in "Hamnet" and was last seen in theaters in Maggie Gyllenhaal's monster movie "The Bride!" She is represented by CAA, United Agents, and Johnson Shapiro. Mescal, who is set to play Paul McCartney in Sam Mendes' Beatles movies, is represented by CAA and Curtis Brown Group. Zeitlin is represented by CAA and Lichter Grossman.
