James Gunn, the new head of DC, will once again steer the ship for this Max original. When the show was greenlit for a second season in February 2022, it was revealed that Gunn, who also helmed The Suicide Squad in 2021, introducing Cena's character to the world, will pen every episode of Season 2. While the exact episode count remains a mystery, Gunn was initially expected to direct all episodes, but in a June 2024 report by Deadline, it was announced that Greg Mottola would share the directorial reins.

Cena is undoubtedly reprising his lead role, with Season 1 stars Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, and Steve Agee likely to reprise their parts as well. Season 1 also boasted Chukwudi Iwuji and Robert Patrick, but given the trajectory of their storylines, it's uncertain if they'll make an appearance in Season 2.

Adding to the ensemble, Deadline announced that Tim Meadows has been cast as Langston Fleury in this exciting new chapter. Furthermore, Gunn revealed that Frank Grillo will portray Rick Flag Sr., the patriarch of Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag Jr., a role Grillo will also lend his voice to in Gunn's upcoming animated series, Creature Commandos.

At a recent convention in Boston, Alan Tudyk, who is married to choreographer Charissa Barton, teased fans during a panel, saying, "My wife is involved. That's all I can say for now, but expect a brand-new dance routine." Fans who recall Season 1's opening credits, set to the tune of "Do You Wanna Taste It," and witnessed Cena and the main cast performing an intricate dance sequence, will no doubt be eager to see what shakeup awaits in the dance department this season.
