Warning: This article contains spoilers for Pluribus season one. Pluribus just reached a critical juncture. In the season one finale of the AppleTV+ series, Rhea Seehorn's character Carol Sturka, also known as "the most miserable person on earth," was poised to escalate her battle against the Others after realizing that her time living free from the hive mind virus might be limited. Meanwhile, Manousos (Carlos Manuel Vesga), one of 13 people on earth also free of the virus alongside Carol, finally reached her in Albuquerque after a perilous journey from Paraguay. Although their initial encounter was rocky, Carol and Manousos agreed that drastic measures were necessary to save the world. Carol followed up on her question from episode three: would the Others give her an atom bomb if she requested one? The answer is yes.

While we'll have to wait until season two to see exactly what Carol has planned, the show's stars Rhea Seehorn and Karolina Wydra (Zosia) sat down with E! News for an exclusive interview where they reacted to fan theories, including the popular online speculation that Carol is actually an alien, which would explain her immunity to the virus. Rhea's response? "I don't think so," she said with a laugh. "But sure, hold onto that." The actress also addressed another theory that her character might join the hive mind and ultimately be expelled for her negativity. "Oh my god, that’s hilarious," Rhea told E!. "That would be fun." As for the speculation that Carol will wake up and discover everything was a dream, Rhea doesn't buy into it. Having worked with creator Vince Gilligan on Pluribus and previously on Better Call Saul, she believes he would consider such an ending "too cheap" and not rewarding for viewers.

For Karolina, she is thrilled by the way fans are receiving the show. "I love the conversations that people [are] having," she told E!. "I wrote that to Vince, actually. I said, 'Vince, you've created something that makes people think and not numb out.' And how incredible is that?" Ultimately, Rhea, who was nominated for a 2026 Golden Globe for her role in Pluribus, confirmed she has "no idea" what Vince has planned for the show. But with the world on the brink and Carol holding more power than ever, season two promises consequences on a global scale. All episodes of Pluribus are streaming now on AppleTV+.
