President Donald Trump has recently been bestowed with a fresh medical assessment. At the age of 79, the Commander-in-Chief has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a non-life-threatening condition, following the onset of "mild swelling in his lower legs," as disclosed by his physician in a detailed memo.
"The President underwent an exhaustive examination, encompassing diagnostic vascular studies," Dr. Sean Barbabella elaborated in a White House statement dated July 17th. "Bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds were conducted, revealing chronic venous insufficiency—a benign and prevalent condition, particularly prevalent among individuals aged 70 and above."
The physician further assured, "Crucially, there was no indication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or arterial disease."
According to the Cleveland Clinic, chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) arises when the veins in one's legs, damaged and inefficient, struggle to pump blood back to the heart, leading to blood accumulation in the leg veins.
Addressing recent photographs depicting minor bruising on the back of the President's hands, Dr. Barbabella stated, "This aligns with minor soft tissue irritation stemming from frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin, an integral part of his standard cardiovascular prevention regimen." He continued, "This is a well-documented and harmless side effect associated with aspirin therapy."
Prior to the dissemination of Dr. Barbabella's memo, Karoline Leavitt imparted the same information to reporters, underscoring, "The President remains in exemplary health," as reported by NBC News.
Echoing this sentiment was Trump's medical examination report released three months prior. "His vibrant lifestyle plays a pivotal role in his overall wellbeing," Dr. Barbabella's April memo asserted. "President Trump's days are marked by multiple meetings, public engagements, press interactions, and frequent triumphs on the golf course."
The conclusion drew an emphatic picture: "President Trump exhibits outstanding cognitive and physical health, fully equipped to fulfill the responsibilities of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State."
