It was reported that Israeli actress Gal Gadot was compelled to leave the shooting location of her upcoming movie, "The Runner," situated in north London, after pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel protesters disrupted the filming sessions. On Thursday, activists were said to have raised slogans like "Stop bombing Palestine," beaten drums, and waved Palestinian flags in protest.
According to The Daily Mail, around a dozen police officers arrived at the scene and escorted Gadot away from the set to ensure her safety. The report further stated that the film's production was temporarily halted, with Gadot's body double stepping in to continue filming.
However, the Jewish Chronicle offered a contrasting account, claiming that Gadot was not actually present at the set during the protest. It was reported that her stunt double was filming when the demonstrators arrived. The Chronicle alleged that the protest was sparked by false rumors circulating on social media, which mistakenly suggested Gadot's presence at the location.
It seemed that the demonstration was organized through encrypted messaging platforms and social media. Posts shared on Instagram and Signal reportedly exhorted activists to disrupt the filming due to Gadot's prominent support for Israel and her past service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Metropolitan Police did not immediately provide comment on whether any arrests had been made in connection with the protest.
Gadot has been an unwavering supporter of Israel since the brutal massacre perpetuated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 251 others to Gaza. The actress has recently found herself entangled in various controversies, including backlash against her role in Disney's "Snow White" remake, which was banned in Lebanon and Kuwait due to her Israeli nationality and military background.
