"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commissions or revenues from select items accessed via these links." Half of the Bieber power couple was notably absent from fashion's most anticipated night. As Hailey Bieber made a grand entrance at the 2025 Met Gala, her husband, Justin Bieber, was conspicuously missing from the glamorous affair. The duo hadn't graced the Met Gala red carpet together in four years; their last joint appearance dates back to 2021, where Hailey donned a sleek black floor-length gown by Saint Laurent, while Justin complemented her in a stylish black oversize suit. The following year, Hailey walked the iconic carpeted steps solo once again, wearing another mesmerizing creation from Saint Laurent.
Justin's absence from the Met Gala isn't unprecedented. Recent social media updates suggest that the singer is currently indulging in a boys' getaway, far removed from the shimmer and shine of New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
On Instagram today, Justin has been sharing an enchanting series of photos and videos, capturing him and his entourage enjoying the tranquility of a seemingly secluded mountain retreat. He has also posted snippets of himself playing golf, though it remains uncertain if these golfing scenes were filmed at the same picturesque locale. Captioning a mesmerizing video of a mountain lake view this morning, Justin penned, "Best trip of my life."
The dress code for this year's Met Gala, "Tailored for You," is inspired by the Costume Institute's exhibition theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." This theme was conceived by the Institute, drawing inspiration from "Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity," a groundbreaking 2009 book authored by Barnard College professor Monica L. Miller.
"I believe this exhibition marks a pivotal milestone in our endeavor to diversify our exhibitions and collections, while also addressing historical biases within our curatorial practices," head curator Andrew Bolton remarked. "It serves as a gateway to accessibility and inclusivity within the realm of fashion at the Met."
This is the first exhibition solely dedicated to menswear since 2003. Appropriately, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton have been honored as co-chairs for this significant event.
