In the wild, Robert Irwin dared to try out a bold new look. As a wildlife conservationist, he debuted a strikingly new mustache, playing a prank on his mom, Terri Irwin, and the results were truly priceless.
"It's been a while since I shaved," Robert said in a TikTok video on January 3th, as he proudly showed off his facial hair that had grown out. "I've had a week off filming, but I'm about to go back on set, so I'm going to take this opportunity to play a little prank on the crew."

The 22-year-old couldn't contain his laughter as he trimmed his beard into what he called a "perfect" mustache. He even had some fun impersonating different pop culture references, including a pilot from Tom Cruise's hit movie Top Gun and Nick Offerman's mustachioed character Ron Swanson from Parks & Recreation.
When Robert, the son of Terri and her late husband Steve Irwin, arrived on set, he was greeted with screams of surprise (read: disgust) and some playful banter from his mom. She said, "As your mother, I'm incredibly proud."
As for whether Terri wanted her son to keep his furry new friend, she shook her head and sarcastically added, "Definitely." While Robert had some fun pranking Terri with his new facial hair, it wasn't the first time he had shocked her with his looks. In fact, the Dancing With the Stars champion surprised his mom and sister Bindi Irwin by showing off some spicy, shirtless dance moves with his partner Witney Carson in September.
"I just went, 'You know what? I'm just gonna go for it,'" he said on the December 18th episode of Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast. "I said to them, 'So this one's a little bit edgy.' And they're like, 'Oh, that's great. Go for it.' But then afterwards, they were like, 'Whoa.'"
Robert added of his "surprise" decision, "You know what? Life is short. You gotta just embrace it. There's nothing wrong with that. It was fun."
