Take heed… do not attempt to frighten Robert Pattinson. In a recent chat with his Mickey 17 director, Bong Joon Ho, for GQ, the actor unveiled the reason behind his inability to endure horror movies as an adult. "In my younger days, I indulged in a plethora of dark content, thinking, 'How cool this is!' Nowadays, however, I'm overly sensitive," he conceded with a chuckle. "It's perplexing; one would assume the opposite. As one ages, one should become less scared of such [films]. But I can't stomach horror movies anymore."
When Bong pondered if it was because Pattinson had become a father, the actor confessed with amusement that his horror film jitters "predated that milestone." Pattinson shares a adorable baby girl with his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse.
The Twilight sensation then recounted a recent incident where he was "terribly frightened," causing him to drift off with kitchen knives by his side. "I had a meeting with the director, who had directed a horror flick. After watching it, I kept imagining someone breaking into my home," Pattinson revealed. "So, I sat on my sofa, armed with two kitchen knives, awaiting the intruder's arrival. And before I knew it, I drifted off to sleep, with the knives practically resting on my neck on the couch."
"My girlfriend walked in and exclaimed, 'What's going on here? Why are you sleeping with two knives stuck in your face?'" the Batman star added, quickly following up with a witty remark, "It was probably just a squirrel."
While Pattinson refrained from naming the horror film's director, it could potentially be Parker Finn, the mind behind Smile. According to an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter last year, the actor has collaborated with Finn for a remake of Possession, the iconic 1981 psychological supernatural horror film penned and directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żulawski.
