Savannah Chrisley is embracing both the positives and negatives with unwavering resolve. On the eve of the premiere of her family's latest venture, "The Chrisleys: Back to Reality," which meticulously documents their relentless battle for the liberation of their incarcerated parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, and their eventual return home, the 28-year-old offered a heartfelt confession regarding her appearance in the series.
"I'm thrilled, yet utterly terrified," Savannah confessed on the August 12th episode of her podcast, Unlocked, "about how utterly disheveled I might appear in a couple of episodes." She elaborated that amidst the arduous task of advocating for her parents' freedom, juggling the responsibilities of caring for her siblings Grayson, 19, Chloe, 12, and navigating her tumultuous relationship with her now-ex, Robert Shiver, Savannah was grappling with an immense amount of stress.
"I underwent a complete nervous collapse amidst the disintegration of my relationship, my solitary existence, and being dragged into magazine headlines, among other things," she continued. "So, be forewarned, folks." She underscored that the series provides an unfiltered glimpse into that overwhelming period.
"The show encapsulates it all," she asserted. "What's exhilarating about this series is that it begins by simply saying, 'This is where we are. This is where the family stands. We're a chaotic, fiery mess. And then, it showcases me fighting tirelessly for my parents.'"
She highlighted one of the "fascinating" aspects of the show: it brings in lawyers and investigators, taking viewers through the nuances of her parents' case, the trial, immunity agreements, and ultimately their pardon by President Donald Trump. "It concludes with a full-circle moment, with my parents returning home," Savannah continued. "I'm incredibly eager for you all to witness this come alive because I believe this marks the beginning of something fresh."
However, her self-described "nervous collapse" isn't the sole dramatic element promised in the series. In fact, the trailer teases a widening gap between Savannah and her older sister, Lindsie Chrisley, stemming from an alleged correspondence between Lindsie and law enforcement.
"The prosecutors read the letter Lindsie wrote to the FBI," Savannah explained, taking a swipe at her 35-year-old sister. "We're no longer family. We've forsaken our surname." Indeed, Savannah isn't the only family member seemingly exasperated with Lindsie. In a confessional, Grayson remarks, "We've had family members betray us."
To witness the repercussions, fans will have to tune into "The Chrisleys: Back to Reality," slated for release on September 1st. In the meantime, anticipation builds.
