**Update on Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance: Detectives Suspect Kidnapping or Abduction**

The Pima County Sheriff's Office has shared new information in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old was reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1st, and authorities now believe she was forcibly taken from her home.

"At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night," a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff's Office told MS Now on February 2nd. "Detectives are investigating a possible kidnapping or abduction."

The sheriff's office noted that detectives remain on the scene and are actively following up on all tips as they are received. Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also told reporters during a press conference that after viewing Nancy's residence, there were "some things at the home that were concerning to us."

"We believe now, after we processed that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene," Nanos said. "We're asking for the community's help. This community has always stepped up to help us solve some pretty tough crimes. I'm looking for that again."

Nanos added, "Nancy Guthrie is of great sound mind. This is not dementia-related." However, authorities did find "other things at the site" which led them to believe Nancy "did not leave on her own." Nanos also shared that Nancy suffered from "physical ailments" and "physical challenges" which require medication, noting that if she does not receive the medication "in 24 hours, it could be fatal."

As for Savannah, the county sheriff said that they did not foresee an "active threat" for the Today host, adding that "there's a lot of work still to do." Nanos explained that law enforcement was in contact with the 54-year-old, as well as her security team, saying, "We’re not going to dismiss any angles for sure."

Savannah was absent from the February 2nd episode of Today, saying in a statement alongside siblings Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, "On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support."

"Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy," she added. "We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff's Department."
