Yet another installment of Shakira's mesmerizing "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour" has hit a snag, with another performance being rescheduled. The 48-year-old sensation, renowned for her hit "Hips Don't Lie," took to social media to break the heartbreaking news to her fans. Her eagerly anticipated March 2 and 3 concerts at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile, have been postponed due to unforeseen stage production issues – marking the third consecutive show in the Latin American leg of her tour to face disruptions.
In a heartfelt message translated from Spanish, Shakira penned, "Dear ones who have stood by my side for three decades, you know better than anyone my unwavering professionalism and the relentless pursuit to deliver my absolute best. It's inconceivably painful as an artist, after exerting so much energy to reach a country I cherish, to have to reschedule my performance due to circumstances beyond my and my production team's control."
She elaborated that the stage production at the venue was entrusted to an external team, rather than her own tour crew, and crucial directives were not adhered to – resulting in a stage that "lacks the stability necessary to assure the safety of my band, dancers, fans, and myself."
Shakira emphasized, "There are two non-negotiables for me: the security of my team and my fans, and presenting a show that meets the exceptional quality standards you all deserve. My heart shatters into a thousand pieces at the thought of not performing for you due to factors beyond my grasp."
Her statement concluded with a solemn promise to reward Chilean fans with a full-fledged concert in the future, vowing, "even if I have to personally inspect every inch of the stage."
The tour embarked on its journey on February 11 at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro and proceeds with two shows at Campo Argentino de Polo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 7 and 8. Following the Latin American leg in April, Shakira will venture into North America, kicking off her string of performances at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 13. The tour will culminate with two final shows at Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, on November 15 and 16.
Earlier, Shakira was compelled to postpone her February 24 concert at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín, Colombia, citing circumstances "out of my hands," with safety concerns at the venue reportedly to blame. In a February 23 social media post, she expressed, "My beloved Medellín fans! It grieves me deeply not to take the stage and serenade you as much as I longed to."
The cancellation in Medellín came a week after Shakira had to scrap her February 16 show in Lima due to an "abdominal issue" that necessitated hospitalization. She wrote at the time, "I'm sorrowful to inform you all that I had to rush to the emergency room last night for an abdominal problem and am currently under hospital care."
