Shane Gillis appeared unperturbed by Chelsea Handler's recent accusation of him being "racist" for the jokes he'd made during Kevin Hart's roast earlier this month. "This is a significant moment for Chelsea, and I'm glad she's capitalizing on it," Gillis, 38, said in a statement to In Touch on Wednesday, May 20th. "We're all pulling for her. Come see me at the football stadium in Philly on July 17th."

The Tires star's statement came just hours after Handler, 51, slammed him and fellow comedian Tony Hinchcliffe for their remarks during Hart's roast. As previously reported by In Touch, Handler spoke out about her feelings during a Wednesday appearance on the Funny Knowing You podcast. While talking to host Deon Cole, the Chelsea Lately alum claimed that some of Gillis' ex-girlfriends had reached out to her about their experiences dating him.
"It's just everything we know — that they're racist, that they're bigots, that they're sexist, you know, that they think they're like invincible," Handler said when Cole, 54, asked her to tell him what the messages allegedly revealed. She also addressed Gillis' joke about "Kevin being so short that you'd have to lynch him from a bonsai tree."
"It was ick. It was gross," she explained. "I don't find those jokes to be funny. Jokes about lynching Black people — lynching is not a joke. It's worse than rape. Like you're not joking about rape, are you? Are you saying I'm going to go rape you? You know, you can't do that, but you can say lynching."
Handler, who also took the stage during the Netflix special on May 10th, concluded, "There was so much disgustingness that I knew it would be a gross vibe that I could elevate it no problem."
