As a star and a producer, Stone will engage with the press and audience in a captivating conversation delving into how she redefined the portrayal of women on screen, emerging as a global cultural icon spanning decades. "Sharon Stone's appearance in Taormina, curated by Marco Fallanca, marks a significant milestone, as it's her first time attending the festival that once hosted the Italian premiere of 'Basic Instinct'," said the organizers of the Taormina Film Festival on Wednesday.

Since her debut in 1980 with a cult cameo in Woody Allen's 'Stardust Memories', Stone has soared to worldwide fame in the 1990s with films like 'Total Recall', where she shared the screen with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and especially with her iconic portrayal of Catherine Tramell in Paul Verhoeven's 'Basic Instinct'. Her illustrious career also includes the thriller 'Sliver' with Phillip Noyce, the Western 'The Quick and the Dead' opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, and Martin Scorsese's 'Casino', for which she garnered a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Oscar nomination.

Moreover, Taormina organizers highlighted Stone's unwavering commitment to civil rights issues and her near-three-decade service as a spokesperson for amfAR, an organization founded by Elizabeth Taylor to support research against AIDS. The Taormina Film Festival will take place from July 12 to 19, promising to be a star-studded affair with Stone's luminous presence at its closing night.
