The graphic novel masterpiece from Paul B. Rainey is set to be brought to life by the pen of the illustrious Robert Funke. Starring the renowned Jennifer Lawrence, the upcoming film adaptation titled 'Why Don’t You Love Me?' promises to be a captivating journey. Drawing inspiration from Rainey's sci-fi comedy, A24 has secured the rights to this unique tale of an unhappy married couple grappling with the complexities of their personal and professional lives, only to discover that their reality might not be as it seems and that alternatives await.
Rainey's novel, released in 2023 by Drawn & Quarterly, will be transformed into a cinematic experience under the guidance of Funke, the creator behind the acclaimed series 'On Becoming a God in Central Florida.' Lawrence, alongside Justine Ciarrocchi from Excellent Cadaver, who was behind the Sony comedy 'No Hard Feelings,' will serve as producers.
This collaboration marks another significant milestone in the partnership between Lawrence and A24, who recently announced a murder mystery based on the 'Real Housewives' franchise for Apple. They have also worked together on the Oscar-nominated drama 'Causeway,' where Lawrence portrayed a military veteran navigating the challenges of civilian life.
