Since the latter part of 2022, Shawn Levy has been intricately linked to an epic project. His anticipated foray into the 'Star Wars' universe is gradually gathering steam. The movie first captivated imaginations in November 2022, but its production took a backseat while Levy dedicated his efforts to the release of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' this month. Tropper, a frequent collaborator of Levy's, has previously lent his pen to Levy's 2014 heartfelt family drama 'This Is Where I Leave You' and the Netflix hit 'Kodachrome' (2017), directed by Mark Raso and produced by Levy. Their collaboration peaked with 'The Adam Project', starring Ryan Reynolds, which stands proud as Netflix's third most popular original film. Intriguingly, the film even featured a weapon reminiscent of a lightsaber, prompting Levy to proclaim, "If there was any doubt about my fanhood of 'Star Wars' and all things a galaxy far, far away, I've eliminated that doubt."

Beyond his partnership with Levy, Tropper is also renowned for creating the TV shows 'Banshee' and 'Warrior', and serving as the showrunner for the Jason Momoa series 'See'. With Levy's plate already full, it remains uncertain when this 'Star Wars' movie will take flight. He's currently juggling the final season of 'Stranger Things', which he produces and directs episodes for, and his name has been floated in connection with Marvel Studios' next 'Avengers' movie, though its fate is yet to be determined.

Since 2019's 'The Rise of Skywalker', Lucasfilm has shifted its focus to establishing a robust TV presence on Disney+. However, Jon Favreau is helming the next theatrical 'Star Wars' adventure, 'Grogu & The Mandalorian', which brings the characters of his 'Mandalorian' TV show to the silver screen. Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this movie promises to reignite the galactic fervor. Tropper is represented by CAA, Kaplan / Perrone Entertainment, and Felker Toczek. The news first broke in The Insider newsletter, igniting a wave of excitement among 'Star Wars' enthusiasts.
