On Tuesday, Billboard heralded the news that Carpenter's latest masterpiece, "Short N' Sweet," had stormed into the top spot upon its release, marking a career milestone for the singer. This achievement solidifies her place as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

Moreover, Carpenter's recent single "Taste" didn't lag behind, debuting at a formidable No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while her pre-release tracks "Please Please Please" and "Espresso" secured the third and fourth positions, respectively. Impressively, all 12 tracks from "Short N' Sweet" made their mark on the chart, spanning from No. 2 to No. 41, an unprecedented feat that places her in esteemed company alongside Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande as the only female artists to simultaneously chart at least three songs within the top five.

With 362,000 equivalent album units sold, "Short N' Sweet" boasts the third-best opening week of the year, trailing only Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" and Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter." The anticipation surrounding the album was palpable, with Carpenter teasing fans with a snippet of "Taste" on Instagram mere hours before its release, leveraging the platform's latest feature to add a musical touch to her profile.

The "Taste" music video sparked a digital frenzy, its eerie yet artistic narrative setting the tone with a content warning before unfolding into a tale of Carpenter and Jenna Ortega engaging in a deadly duel over a love interest. The visuals are a campy delight, featuring the duo armed with shotguns, knives, chainsaws, and even voodoo dolls, all while Carpenter seductively applies lipstick in the reflection of a menacing knife. Amidst the chaos, they share a kiss, ultimately leading to the demise of their shared paramour. The video culminates with the two ladies standing triumphantly in front of his casket, laughing and sipping milkshakes as they walk away as friends.

Carpenter's journey to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 began in June with the viral hit "Please Please Please," which served as the second single from "Short N' Sweet." Her first single, "Espresso," has lingered on the chart for 20 weeks, peaking at No. 2 earlier this summer.

As the pop star continues to soar, she's set to take the stage at the upcoming MTV VMAs, now rescheduled for September 11 to avoid a clash with the presidential debate. Furthermore, Carpenter's sold-out "Short N' Sweet Tour" is poised to kick off this fall in Columbus, Ohio, with Los Angeles serving as the grand finale of her North American trek, featuring a performance at the Crypto.com Arena on November 15 and two additional shows at the Kia Forum on November 17 and 18.
