The star of the captivating film 'Queen & Slim' has now graced the spy thriller's star-studded cast, alongside the likes of Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere. The Agency, a Paramount+ and Showtime collaboration, continues to impress with its top-notch ensemble.
The latest addition to this prestigious team is Jodie Turner-Smith, who joins the ranks alongside Fassbender, Wright, and Gere. The Agency revolves around Martian, a covert CIA agent who is summoned back to the agency's London station, abandoning his undercover mission. Turner-Smith, renowned for her roles in 'Queen & Slim' and 'The Acolyte,' will portray Sami Zahir, a social anthropology professor with a complex past involving Martian.
"Jodie Turner-Smith is a magnetic force, captivating audiences with her raw emotional depth," said Nina L. Diaz, the president of content and chief creative officer at Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks. "We are delighted to have her join our stellar cast."
Based on the critically acclaimed French drama 'Le Bureau des Legendes,' The Agency received a direct-to-series order at Showtime in February 2023, prior to Showtime's integration into the Paramount+ streaming platform. Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are the masterminds behind the series' script, while Joe Wright directs the first two episodes.
The executive producers include the Butterworth brothers, Wright, along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov of Smokehouse Pictures; Nina Diaz and Keith Cox from Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios; David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari from 101 Studios; Alex Berger of TOP-The Originals Productions; and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton from Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America.
Turner-Smith, who also has a recurring role in the Disney+ 'Star Wars' series 'The Acolyte,' will soon be seen in 'Bad Monkey' on Apple TV+. Her impressive credits also include 'White Noise,' 'Murder Mystery 2,' and Netflix's 'Sex Education.' She is represented by UTA, 111 Media, The Lede Company, and Johnson Shapiro.
