Simone Biles Details Getting Plastic Surgery on Eyelids to Get Rid of "Big Flaw"

Simone Biles is shining a golden light on transparency, as the 28-year-old Olympian has recently unveiled the full extent of her cosmetic journey, including a lower blepharoplasty—or eyelid surgery—inspired by a long-standing insecurity exacerbated by the intense scrutiny of the public eye. "I got a lower bleph because me and my family have what I call the 'Biles eye bags,'" she told People in an interview published on November 13th. "We've always had them, it's hereditary, and it was just a big flaw for me."

She continued, "Every time I would go to a photoshoot, they'd say, 'Oh, can we put some strips on her?'" Ultimately, she decided that the surgery—which the Cleveland Clinic describes as a procedure that "removes and repositions excess fat" under the eyes—was something she wanted to fix. "I was thinking, 'Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, these aren't going away,'" she reflected. "So it's something that I wanted to fix."

Being transparent about the alterations she's made to her appearance is of utmost importance to her. "Seeing me win medals at the Olympics is not relatable," she explained. "But what is relatable is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through, and how we share openly and honestly."

That's why earlier this month, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist cleared the air about her "three plastic surgeries" and detailed what they were. In the comments of her October 29th TikTok video, she shared that in addition to her lower bleph, she's had a breast augmentation and had her ear lobe reshaped after an earring got ripped out when she was younger.

With so many young women looking up to her, Biles feels it's crucial that she doesn't hide anything. "I feel like nowadays with social media, you see everyone and you're thinking, 'Oh my God, how does she look so good?'" she emphasized. "Social media isn't real life, so that's why I try to be as transparent as possible."
