Anne-Marie is no lightweight when it comes to choosing baby names. The "Ciao Adios" singer recently revealed that she and her husband of three years, Slowthai (real name Tyron Kaymone Frampton), have bestowed a truly one-of-a-kind moniker upon their 5-month-old baby boy: Forever Sugar. "His name is Forever," she shared excitedly on This Morning on October 14. "Sugar is his middle name."
The infant's name carries a fascinating backstory. "I developed gestational diabetes during my pregnancy," the 35-year-old artist recounted. "So, I thought, 'What a perfect middle name!'" According to the American Diabetes Association, nine percent of all pregnant individuals in the U.S. are diagnosed with gestational diabetes each year. Like Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, it results in elevated blood sugar levels, which can impact both the pregnancy and the baby's well-being.
As for the first name, Forever, Anne-Marie—who also shares a 19-month-old daughter, Seven, with Slowthai—explained that it was inspired by her family. "My nan used to sign off every card with 'always and forever,'" she recalled warmly. "All the time. And now my mum does it, and my sister does it too. I just thought 'Forever' is—well, it's just a cool name."
Forever Sugar is undoubtedly the apple of his older sister's eye. "She treats him like he's her age," Anne-Marie chuckled. "So she doesn't really grasp that he's still incredibly tiny." Although Seven can be a bit rough with Forever Sugar, the "2002" singer noted that it's only because she "gets really excited." "They adore each other," she gushed. "They just stare at each other."
Having two children under the age of two wasn't entirely planned, but Anne-Marie had been somewhat preparing for it. "To be honest, I'm a fan of psychics, and I consult with them quite a bit," she explained. "And they all—every single one of them—said, 'You're going to have babies either really close together or twins.'" So when it actually happened, she thought, "OK, I think I can handle this." "And it is a beautiful thing," Anne-Marie continued, "but it's definitely challenging."
Of course, the "Rockabye" singer also took a moment to gush about her baby girl. "She's stunning," she said proudly. "The most beautiful little thing. She makes me cry."
