On a recent Saturday evening, "Saturday Night Live" star Chloe Fineman revealed that she had been publicly reprimanded by a manager at a swanky New York City restaurant, all while in the presence of Demi Moore. In a TikTok video posted that same day, the comedian vividly recounted the encounter she and her sister had at Sant Ambroeus, an upmarket Italian eatery nestled in Manhattan.
As they entered the restaurant, Fineman described how they were warmly greeted and led to a seating area. "We stroll in, and they're like, 'Oh, absolutely, right this way,'" Fineman narrated in the TikTok, her sister by her side. "'Straight this way,' they insist, so we wander into a room."
Upon finding several empty seats, Fineman took a seat and glanced around, only to realize that she had spotted Pilaf, Demi Moore's famous pet dog, sitting nearby. And there, sitting with Pilaf, was Moore herself.
Recalling that she had previously held Moore's dog and had crossed paths with her during her tenure at SNL, Fineman decided to walk over and strike up a conversation. However, their conversation was abruptly interrupted by a restaurant staffer who hastily ushered Fineman and her sister away.
The staffer apparently berated them for taking a seat without first consulting him. "Perhaps I wasn't wearing any makeup?" Fineman pondered aloud. "I wonder, did I lack the necessary legitimacy to occupy an empty seat at Sant Ambroeus?"
Undeterred, Fineman responded by informing the staffer, "Chill out, I'm not just anybody. I'm on SNL." Her sister quipped back, "Go off, diva."
According to Fineman, the staffer responded by saying, "I don't care who you are. I treat everyone the same. You have to talk to me first." At this point, Fineman's sister stepped in to inform the staffer that they would be leaving the restaurant.
Fineman concluded her TikTok by remarking, "You could call it a Karen moment. Or, you could call it living in New York, where everyone is, quite frankly, rude as hell."
Representatives from Sant Ambroeus have yet to comment on the incident.
Last year, Fineman made headlines when she claimed that Elon Musk had made her cry during his hosting stint on SNL. Musk's "surreal" hosting gig in May 2021 divided viewers and garnered criticism from some cast members due to his controversial viewpoints.
Initially, the revelation was shared by Bowen Yang during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" last August. Yang mentioned that a male celebrity host had "made multiple members cry" during a table read.
While Yang did not name names, Fineman, inspired by Musk's criticism of the show, revealed in a since-deleted TikTok, "Alright, I just came across a news article about Elon Musk being all butt-hurt about SNL and his impression, but like, clearly, you're watching the show. Like, what are you even talking about?"
She continued, "And I'm thinking, you know what? I'm finally coming out and saying that I'm the cast member he made cry. He's the host who made someone cry. Maybe there were others too."
"But I'm thinking, no, if you're gonna go on your platform and be rude, guess what? You made me, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up all night writing that sketch," she concluded.
