It appears that Codi, Snoop Dogg's granddaughter, has inherited his indomitable spirit. Born prematurely in February, this little fireball of a baby is "incredibly feisty," according to her mother, Cori Broadus—the rapper's daughter—who welcomed Codi into the world just six months into her pregnancy. "She's so resilient and strong," Cori, who shares Codi with her fiancé Wayne Deuce, gushed to Us Weekly in an interview published on September 16. "She's just brimming with personality."
In fact, the 26-year-old revealed that doctors and nurses in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) frequently remark to her, "'Your baby has a sharp mind. She's intelligent. She's alert. She's fully aware of her surroundings. She can hear. She can see.'" Cori affectionately described her daughter as "just a sweet little dynamo."
Nonetheless, Codi's initial weeks were an emotional rollercoaster for Cori. As she put it, "The NICU is a whole different world." "It's not a place anyone wants to be, but the support you receive there is incredible," Cori continued, explaining how the staff often comforted her during moments of anxiety over Codi's well-being. "They'd say, 'Why are you apologizing? This is completely normal. If you weren't crying, we'd be the ones worried.'"
Reflecting on her own health struggles—having previously suffered a stroke at the age of 24—Cori quipped that she's "lived more than most people." That's why she considers Codi to be her "miracle baby, a delightful surprise." "Doctors told me I'd never be able to have a child. Yet here she is," shared the founder of Choc Factory. "She's absolutely stunning, and I just adore her."
Cori went on to say, "Everyone's path is unique. Our journey home just looks a bit different from the next baby's, and so on." And luckily for the mother-daughter pair, they have a robust support system behind them. As Snoop told E! News in April, "What we strive to do is keep love in the atmosphere every single day of the week." "No matter if it's Mother's Day or not," added the Voice coach (whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr.), "love is always present in our lives."
