Tate McRae and Jack Hughes are enjoying a cozy back-to-back romance, strolling the streets of New York City on December 22, just one day after Tate was spotted cheering him on at a New Jersey Devils home game against the Buffalo Sabres. The 22-year-old singer and the 24-year-old NFL player looked adorable in their winter attire, with Tate donning a chic black trench coat and jeans, accessorized with a butter yellow baseball cap, a Chloe bag, and matching shoes. Jack, on the other hand, was seen in a tan quarter-zip sweater under a black puffer jacket, matching pants, and a baseball hat with white sneakers. The hockey player, currently in his seventh season with the Devils, also sported a cast on his hand as part of his recovery from a recent finger injury.

The December 21 game marked Jack's return to the ice after a 18-match absence, and Tate's presence at the game only fueled dating rumors that had been swirling around them since November, when they went on a dinner date in New York City. Despite the public interest in their relationship, neither Tate nor Jack have publicly commented on their status, with Tate purposely keeping her dating life under the radar following her breakup with The Kid LAROI earlier this year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on December 11, Tate shared her disdain for the public scrutiny of her private life, especially in light of her song "Tit for Tat," which many speculated was about her split from The Kid LAROI. "I would never talk that way, even about my friends' lives," she said. "I didn't realize how much it would affect me, the public knowing my private life—because no one knows the full story of anything, ever."

Tate emphasized that while writing is an emotional outlet for her, it doesn't mean she wants every aspect of her personal life to be investigated. "I also hate people painting a situation that’s worse than it is," she added. "But I’ve had to realize that he’s going to write songs and I’m going to write songs, and that’s our way of expressing ourselves. That’s our art, that’s our job. And once it’s out there, it’s not mine anymore."
