The official synopsis reads: "'Landman' is a contemporary narrative of the relentless pursuit of fortune in the world of oil rigs. Drawing inspiration from the renowned 11-part podcast 'Boomtown,' the series delves into the upstairs/downstairs drama of roughnecks and billionaire wildcats who are fueling a boom so immense, it's altering our climate, economy, and geopolitical landscape."

The drama is a collaboration between Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, two creators who have already established themselves as masters of their craft. Thornton made a brief yet memorable appearance in Sheridan's '1883,' and the cast boasts several familiar faces from the Sheridan universe.

Starring alongside Thornton are Ali Larter ('The Last Victim'), Michelle Randolph ('1923'), Jacob Lofland ('Joker 2'), Kayla Wallace ('When Calls the Heart'), James Jordan ('Yellowstone'), Mark Collie ('Nashville'), and Paulina Chávez ('The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia').

Filming has kicked off in and around Fort Worth, Texas—a locale that's not far from Sheridan's sprawling Four Sixes ranch. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan's Bosque Ranch Productions, ensuring a high-quality production that lives up to Sheridan's storytelling prowess.

'Landman' joins a growing roster of Sheridan shows on Paramount+, including '1923,' '1883,' 'Special Ops: Lioness,' 'Mayor of Kingstown,' 'Tulsa King,' and 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves.' And of course, there's Sheridan's flagship show, 'Yellowstone,' which is expected to commence filming for its final season on the Paramount Network this spring. With such an impressive lineup, Paramount+ is poised to continue its domination in the world of premium drama series.
