Teddi Mellencamp is on the road to recovery after a horrifying illness. The star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills recently revealed that she was hospitalized after contracting a rare and high-risk illness known as Stevens-Johnson's syndrome, which affects the skin and mucous membranes.

"I hadn't felt well for a few days," Teddi recalled to her friend and cohost Tamra Judge during the March 3 episode of Two Ts in a Pod. "I thought I had the flu, but then one day I woke up and my entire body was covered in this terrible rash—it's hard to describe it as just a rash because it was like sores all over my body."

Despite the alarming situation, Teddi remained calm and went to urgent care, thinking it would be an easy fix. However, her doctor told her, "'You need to go to the ER right now.'"

"Essentially, what happened was I was given a new medication and I was allergic to it," she said of the cause of the illness, which she explained is "a rare life-threatening medical emergency causing severe, painful blisters of the skin and mucous membranes."

The condition went beyond the surface of her skin, with Teddi noting that it was "everywhere." "It went into my mouth," she recalled. "Around my eyes a little bit. I couldn't swallow."

Despite the severity of her condition, the doctors at the hospital were able to quickly diagnose and treat her illness. Teddi had to be admitted into the hospital, but thankfully, she was discharged in time to attend her youngest child's birthday party.

"I wasn't feeling great, but just the adrenaline from seeing her made me so happy," she said. "I was so happy to be there for her special day."
